Learning Structure
WAA JUNIORS & WAA SENIORS CURRICULUM
Although the curriculum is generally the same, the content of classes can vary a lot; Senior Classes are by nature more advanced and deal with more complexity in the work.
Term 1
Learning the Ropes
The goal of term 1 (apart from having heaps of fun!) is about learning the basics of performing: projection, team work, improvisation, script analysis, acting technique, performance technique. Term 1 culminates with an open class that allows parents, guardians and/or family in to be a fly on the wall and observe the class in action.
Term 2
The Power of Impulse
The goal of term 2 is to introduce students to more challenging acting techniques, the idea of creating their own work, impulse work and more. Term 2 culminates with an in-class live performance for parents, guardians and family of a play that the students have created.
Term 3
Learning by Doing
The goal of term 3 is to apply the skills the students have learnt to the creation of their own webseries - the students come up with the ideas, write the script, work with a professional writer to finesse the scripts, experience the casting and audition process, and start to rehearse scenes with a professional director.
Term 4
Lights, Camera… Action!
The goal of term 4 is to rehearse and film the webseries during class with a camera, lighting, sound crew and directed by a professional director. Term 4 culminates with a cinema screening (Thursday 10th December) of each class's webseries. As well as being released online, students will be provided a copy of their webseries for their showreel and approaching agents.
